LIST OF WORK

Philip Mantione’s music has been described as “austerely impressive” (Paris Transatlantic Monthly Nov. 2000) and Innova Recordings calls his Sinusoidal Tendencies, “a searing study in form and color.” He has written music for multimedia performance, experimental video, computer interactive projects, sound installations, and acoustic pieces for orchestra, string quartet, brass quintet, woodwind quintet, piano trio and other chamber ensembles. In 2006, he will complete a new piece called "B", commissioned by Thomas Buckner for baritone voice, string quartet, percussion and computer to be performed in New York City and San Francisco. In 2005, the S.E.M. Ensemble, conducted by Petr Kotik, performed his Traffic for strings at Merkin Hall in NYC and the Willow Place Auditorium in Brooklyn Heights. AcGtr, a computer music piece was included in the Spark Festival of Electronic Music and Art (2005) at the University of Minnesota. His chamber piece, Assemblage, was broadcast live on KUSC from the Bing Theater at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. A computer music piece called Five was included in the Medi@terra Festival 2001 (microMuseum), a traveling exhibition beginning in Greece, moving throughout the Balkans and ending in Germany. He has collaborated with visual artist Alysse Stepanian on numerous projects including performance, installation and experimental video. L.P. They have exhibited internationally including recent screenings at the Imagine Gallery Residency in Beijing; Art in General, Here, Dixon Place, Void, Ocularis, and Columbia University in NYC; Most Significant Bytes 2000 (Ohio); The Shy Anne Sound and Video Festival (Washington); Sonic Circuits Circus (Minnesota); Fig and Jan Baum Galleries (LA); The Leeds International Film Festival (UK), HAY-ART Cultural Center and The Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art (Armenia); on-line at wigged.net; the SEAMUS (Society for Electro-acoustic Music in the US) 2001 Festival at LSU; and the Paris/Berlin International Meetings organized by roARatorio (2000 and 2003).
